tell us about your background
My back ground is as a Graphic Designer, I studied in Melbourne doing a diploma in Art & Design. I have worked doing designs for Textile Printers called Natural Art for many years as well. This then took me into selling in the Retail world, doing markets, like Eumundi and Riverside in Brisbane.
tell us about what you create
I create imagery that speaks to me on an emotional level, creating feelings of Beauty, Peace, Connectedness, Freedom, Spaciousness, Wonder of the Natural World around me.
what made you start making your pieces?
I bought a digital 35 mm SLR camera about four years ago now as my old manual one from Art college had its’ day. Because of health reasons I began walking through the local bushland, and discovered all the treasures living in there. I wanted to record all the flora and fauna I found living there. From there I searched out other wild places to visit, and capture with my camera.
What is your inspiration/influences?
My mother had an old Kodak box camera, and was always taking photos of us when we were young. My brother bought me a instamatic camera for my 15th Birthday, and I was off photographing the black boys at Wilson’s’ Promontory in Victoria. At Art College in my final year I took up Photography, and did all my own developing, and printing of images. It was something I really enjoyed. I was also influenced by Steve Parish the photographer, he also took lots of Nature photography.
What materials do you use?
Photographs, framed, prints, cards.
tell us about your creative process?
I decide on where I want to go, and what I want to photograph. Then do some research where to find what I’m looking for. I love to travel, be outdoors, and be in Nature. Sometimes I set up shots at home with flowers, or people, when the lighting is write.
why did you choose in.cube8r?
I loved the concept of it, and the feel of the place. I was looking for somewhere to share my work with the public. A creation isn’t finished until it is seen by other people other than the Artist.
anything else you would like to add?
Margaret is also available for photo shoots for Events, Portraits, Websites, Print enlargements for Interiors, Canvas prints for wall spaces, Poster sized prints.
